Also known as Raja Mahal, this palace is among the most visited palaces in Orchha. The palace was started in 16th century by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh, but was completed by Raja Madhukar Singh by the next century. In comparison to Jahangir Mahal, Raj Mahal may first seem not to be as exquisite in architecture. But once you enter the palace, the beautiful paintings on the walls and ceilings of its rooms will capture your imagination. The paintings, that depict the mythological and royal aspects of Bundela rule, are all made with natural colours extracted from flowers and plants. The multi storey building also offers some breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
