The most prominent monument of Delhi, The Red Fort is a powerful reminder of Mughal Era. The fort was built by 5th Mughal Emperor – Shah Jahan, when he decided to shift the capital from Agra to Delhi. The fort has a rich and turbulent history having been captured by Sikhs and British and also featuring in the freedom struggle of the country.
Even today, it is at the Red Fort of Delhi that the national flag (The Tricolour) is hosted on the Independence Day (15.Aug) by the Prime Minister
