1. ROCK GARDEN

Mr Nek Chand Saini secretly started working on the garden in 1957. Today it is spread over 40 acres and is completely built out of industrial and domestic waste like glass, bottles, bangles, tiles, ceramics, sinks, electrical wastes etc, which are places in walled paths. The man made garden is linked with waterfalls and some astounding sculptures.


2. SUKHNA LAKE & SANCTUARY

Le Corbusier and Chief Engineer PL Verma created Sukhna Lake by damming Sukhna Choe – a seasonal stream coming down from Shivalik Hills. walkers pursue an exercise regime, families enjoy an evening stroll and nature lovers mingle with children on roller skates. Photographers and painters love to capture its scenic beauty. Sukhna has a membership-based Lake Club with lawns, a gym, indoor games, swimming pool and tennis courts with both synthetic and grass courts. Boating, rowing, sculling, sailing, kayaking and water skiing can be enjoyed throughout the year.


3. ZAKIR HUSSAIN ROSE GARDEN

Charmed by more than 1600 different species of roses, the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden of Chandigarh is named after the former president of the nation. The garden, which is the largest in Asia, is spread over 30 acres and has 32500 varieties of trees as well. An annual event called The Rose Festival is held in February and March.


4. GOVERNMENT MUSEUM & ART GALLERY

The gallery was originally located in Lahore. After partition of India, the museum was shifted to Amritsar, Shimla, Patiala and finally to Chandigarh. The building with a beautiful architecture, has many sub-museums within – Art Gallery, Natural History Museum, Chandigarh Architecture Museum & National Gallery of Portraits.


5. TOPIARY GARDEN

Topiary Garden is a famous attraction in Chandigarh, especially for children. The bushes, creepers and other plants have been carefully shaped into forms of animals like elephants, bears, camels etc. In addition there is a collection of ornamental and decorative plants that add to the beauty of the park.


6. INTERNATIONAL DOLLS MUSEUM

The Dolls Museum has 4 sections – International dolls, Indian dolls, Activity corner & History of Dolls. Dolls have been collected from different countries like Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Russia and Korea etc. Indian Dolls have been collected from various states of the nation. The dolls represent some of the popular fairy-tale characters like Aladdin, Ali Baba, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White also.


7. SARKARIA CACTUS GARDEN

The cacti and succulent garden has more than 3500 species, including endangered species like Genus Caralluma. Even cacti with origins from as far as Yemen, Mexico and Arizona are on display here. Bonsai, Haworthies, Aloes and Gasterias can all be observed as well.
