What to Explore

This unique ecopark has been carefully restored to bring back the indigenous plant life of the Thar Desert after years of being overrun by an invasive exotic shrub.

• Volcanic Rock Formations: Marvel at the distinctive sandstone and volcanic rock formations, some of which are over 700 million years old. The Jodhpur Welded Tuff here has been declared a National Geological Monument.
• Native Desert Flora: Discover around 250 species of native plants that thrive in this rocky, arid environment, including various xerophytes like Euphorbia caducifolia.
• Panoramic Views: The trails offer exceptional vantage points for capturing breathtaking views of the towering Mehrangarh Fort and the sprawling Blue City below, especially beautiful during sunrise or sunset.
• Visitors Centre & Interpretation Gallery: Located in the beautifully restored 17th-century Singhoria Pol gateway, the centre provides educational exhibits on the desert’s ecology, geology, and history.
• Native Plant Nursery: Visit the park’s nursery, where native rock-loving plants are propagated. You can even purchase a unique desert plant as a souvenir!
• Bird and Wildlife Watching: The park is a haven for birds, butterflies, and reptiles. Keep an eye out for species like the Common Peafowl, Green Bee-Eater, and various species of owls.

Best Time To Visit:	October to March is ideal for pleasant weather. Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and see more wildlife.
Time Required:	Approximately 2–3 hours to explore the trails and Visitor Centre.

• Footwear is Key: Wear sturdy hiking or walking shoes as the trails are rocky and uneven.
• Stay Hydrated: Carry a reusable water bottle.
• Sun Protection: Don’t forget a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, especially when visiting outside of the peak winter months.
• Respect Nature: Stay on the marked trails and do not disturb the plants or wildlife, as this is an ecologically sensitive area.
